At Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School, our Parent group, Friends of GHEMS, along with the U.S. Green Building Council of Maryland Community, come together twice a year to collaborate on service projects aimed at improving our outdoor classrooms and spaces. The Green Apple Day of Service brings together parents, teachers, students, companies, and local organizations to volunteer for projects that enhance our school, making it a safer, healthier, and more sustainable learning environment for all.
This year during Green Apple Day of Service, we will be working on the following outdoor projects:
- Butterfly Garden
- Early Learning Courtyard Clean Up and Planting
- Mulching of the Playground
- Planting in the Gardens on Ailsa
- Outer Space Painting of the Blacktop
- Parking Lot Spot Painting (maybe if time permits)
Join us April 27, 2024. Bring your garden tools, as we work together to beautify our outdoor space.
